A 3rd hiker has died within the Grand Canyon in lower than a month : NPR

A hiker died within the Grand Canyon on Sunday, marking the third demise on the nationwide park up to now month.

On Sunday, the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Middle obtained a name about an unresponsive individual on the Brilliant Angel Path at about 2 p.m. Witnesses and first responders administered CPR on the individual, however they had been unable to resuscitate him.

The 50-year-old man was recognized as being from San Angelo, Texas, in line with the Nationwide Park Service. After staying in a single day on the Havasupai Gardens campground, he started mountain climbing towards the canyon’s rim.

An analogous incident occurred on June 29, when Scott Sims, 69, from Austin, was discovered semi-conscious on the River Path. And on June 16, a 41-year-old man was discovered unconscious on Brilliant Angel Path. Neither had been capable of be resuscitated.

In all three instances, no reason behind demise has been launched but, as authorities are nonetheless investigating.

The Nationwide Park Service has warned that temperatures on the paths can attain 120 levels – within the shade. The company suggested guests to keep away from mountain climbing within the interior canyon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Emergency responders may take longer in the summertime “on account of restricted employees, the variety of rescue calls, worker security necessities, and restricted helicopter flying functionality in periods of maximum warmth or inclement climate,” the NPS mentioned.
